A Priviledge Indeed!

Even before the typhoon, we were scheduled to go to Cebu for "Go Tugon Evangelism Summit". One week before our flight the dreadful flood due to Typhoon Ondoy occurred, affected lives and many churches in Southern Luzon. The circumstances gave us, our brothers and sisters an opportunity to help. Just a short noticed from our brethren, we gathered boxes of clothes as well as some monetary help.
We flew to the Philippines and in just a week, we were able to achieved everything that needed to be accomplished. Thank God for the strength and His Provision.

First day in Manila -organized the assistance for the flood victims. Thank God for Bro. Dave Cutar and the Malacanang Church for the tireless support. The next day, we flew to Cebu.
It was a blessed three days meeting "World Mission Go Tugon Evangelism Summit", fellowshipping with the leaders and pastors of UPCI Philippines.

Traveled to Bohol and met with some of the pastors. Visited the church and place where my father inlaw Pastor Ben Patts Sr. used to live (The grass root of the Patts Clan). It was indeed a far away land. Our vehicle gave up because of the raw dirt road; no way to reach the place but to walk for 15 to 20 minutes. Though our brethren and church from that place was way far from flooded area, they surely need help as well. However their humble state of life did not robbed the smile and joy in their faces. Lacking in material things and those electronics indulgence did not stop them from worshiping God but rather strengthened their faith and bonded them with love. They walk for miles just to fellowship with the brethren. Worshiping God together is a joyful time for them which they always look forward to, week after week with enthusiasm and expectation. Being in that place humbled my husband and I and the rest of our companions. What a privilege!

After resting for a day on a beautiful beach in Bohol, we flew back to Manila to join the volunteers.

The flood subsided, leaving houses and all their things soaked with water, dirt and mud. Affected families tried to save the stuffs that can be save but almost everything they bought and accumulated with their blood and sweat for years vanished in just minutes.

Aside from the traces of mud on the streets, buildings and stores, the muddy dirt roads and remnant of washed out houses; the affected cities seem back to normal.

People carry on with their normal routine; going to the market, to school and work. However, those that lost their houses, family and love ones from flood will take a very long time to recover.

After two weeks from the tragic event, there are still hundreds or thousands that are still in the evacuation centers. Some are brethren in faith that lost their houses.

They were already transferred twice from places to places because the school that they used for evacuation had already resumed classes.

Many churches were affected, to the extent were destroyed by the flood. Some lost their instruments and only some chairs and the wooden pulpit were left.

It's so sad when you see the great needs and only have an inadequate financial in your hands. We wanted to extend the help out to the public but even for our brethren in faith, it's not even enough. But still, with our limited resources we touched some lives.

Being there giving not just financial but your time and yourself was a great opportunity to be apart of.
Thank God for our brothers and sisters who lend a hand and gave monetary help. To those brethren from different churches who volunteered. Your time and effort in organizing and packing goods and distributing it to different churches is more than enough.

The act of participation no matter how small or big aligned us to channel God's blessings to our lives and others. May our God use us more! Glory be to our Great God and Savior Jesus Christ!

Be Still And Know That I Am God

"Be still and know that I am God." psalm 46:10

What does it mean when God said, "Be still"? It is a command given to remind His anxious, worried and troubled people to align once again to His divine purpose.
God speaks to our spiritual disposition. The order "be still" encourages us to reflect once more that we are limited, and that God is infinite. This spiritual calm, that God commands, does not come from a lack of troubles; it derives from a change of perspective. Magnifying God than the chaotic circumstances we are in. It is a steady, deep reflection, unwavering faith and confident on God alone as well as a complete trust in His unchanging words and faithful promises.
"Be still and know that I am God"… Knowing Him is to be aware of what He is capable of. We should realize that He is our Maker, our Savior and the Only Holy Sovereign God that's in control of everything. There is no other God before or after Him (Isaiah 43:10). Before the heavens and the earth, He is God! We must acknowledge and recognized His power and authority.
The status of our faith and our actions reflect on how deeply and intimately we know our God.
In the midst of problems, though my world crumbles around me, I can be at rest —not because I am the calmest person in the face of adversity, not because of a self-made confidence, nor because “I’ve seen it all.” I am still, because I know my God!

The Object Of Our Faith

But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. (Hebrews 11:6)

Faith in God starts with a belief in His existence. To know Him must be our quest and the number one desire of our heart.

The LORD God said to him, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not the rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the LORD who exercises loving kindness, justice, and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things,” declares the LORD (Jer. 9:23-24).

What do we know about our God? He is self Existent. He is The Beginning He is the Ending. He is not constrained with time. He is the All-Knowing, All - Powerful, Most Holy God. God is Love and He is our Creator and our Savior. He is Spirit and there is only one God.

This One True Almighty God was manifested in the flesh and dwells among us (I Tim.3:16) The angels have seen Him and we can see God through our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the image of the invisible God. (Col.1:15-17) "For in him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily." (Col.2:9)
Now how these facts have something to do with our Faith? All of it! Because He is the object of our faith.

It is not the strength of our faith that matters, but the strength of that in which we place our faith.

"Look unto Jesus the Author and the Finisher of our Faith." (Hebrews 12:2)

The Object of our faith is Tried and True; Strong and Faithfull; He never fails and He is the same yesterday, today and forever.

The apostles said to the Lord, "Increase our faith!"
Did our Lord give them instructions on how to increase their faith?

Jesus replied, "If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it will obey you. (Luke 17:5-6)

Great faith is good but even a small faith has enough strength to command everything the Lord had released in heaven and in earth by the power of His Name. Just have faith!

Real Faith is faith in real things. Faith is not trying to create reality. It understands what Jesus Christ came and did was a historical fact not fiction. It is a conviction that what we learned are not just true, but the truth that God has revealed for a purpose. We are assured, confident and certain that His words and promises are true. He will not just honor His words, but He is His Words.

Sometimes God will put us in the situation that neither your strength, nor your talent nor your resources can help you and what left is to completely trust in our Lord Jesus Christ. Through the testing of our faith, our true nature will come out and God wants to see if we truly have faith in Him.

Faith in Christ is not faith, until He's all we're holding onto. But He is able to hold us forever and never let us go all the way through eternity.

Something Better Is On Its Way

Some of us were privilege to witness and understand the works of God in the midst of long painful nights of uncertainty.

Close doors and dead ends in our path do not indicate that we failed to reach our goal nor it signify failures in our journey, they are simply barriers of whom God put to keep us from a wrong decision that will take us out of our course. Instead of stopping, find an open route and keep on going until we reach our destination. The Lord hears our prayer and honors our faith and according to His will, He will bring it to pass. Despite of all the negative and unfortunate circumstances we are in, He is still in control. Stay in the path and keep your eyes on our Lord Jesus Christ, the author and the finisher of our faith. Hold on to the promises of God until that day, the hour of victory, which is always better than what we expected! Then all our "Why's" will be answered.

That's the time everything will make sense and you will thank God for what He has done. And yes, you are right, "All the Glory belongs to Him!" for the simple reason that it's all because of Him. Now, stand up brush off the dust on your clothes, wipe the tears in your eyes and lift your head up. Give thanks unto the Lord! Look up for something better is about to happen… Something better is on its way.

There's a Blessing in the Storm

All of us in some way, if not us, it's our family, or our friends or people we've known has been touched by "Laid Off" or "Job Lost".
Home, business and occupation, the very thing that people trusted to have a better life, sometimes or most of the times their priority more than their health and unfortunately, more than God...now crumbled and could not help them. Where's the job, your work, career you treasured when you needed them the most? Even the professions we thought that is secured nowadays we can no longer trust. Nothing is permanent in this world. All is subject to change whether we like it or not.

Then where else and to whom we can put our trust?

"I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth. He will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber. Behold, he …shall neither slumber nor sleep. The LORD is thy keeper: the LORD is thy shade upon thy right hand. The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night. The LORD shall preserve thee from all evil: he shall preserve thy soul." Psalm 121:1-7

There is One who never change. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. Everything that we need comes from Him. And He should be the priority in our life. Our Lord Jesus Christ is the Rock that is higher than us.

"From the ends of the earth I call to you, I call as my heart grows faint; lead me to the rock that is higher than I." Psalm 61:2
Will the Christians who love the Lord be spared by these unfortunate circumstances? No. We are not immune to it. But this is for certain, Our God will surely take care of us, He will keep us safe and will supply all our needs through the process. There's a Blessing in the Storm!
The peace and joy that we have in the midst of this worried world is more than enough to be grateful.

"Yes, my soul, find rest in God; my hope comes from him. Truly he is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken. My salvation and my honor depend on God; he is my mighty rock, my refuge. " Psalm 62:5-7

God's ways and thoughts are higher than us. World's economy is different than God's economy. God's purpose will not be affected by what's happening in this world.
His perfect will be done on this earth as it is in heaven!
